January Journey continued

I downloaded a few photos from my phone and want to add to the January post.

Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve

I spotted this precious nest in a small tree next to the trail
in the prairie.  Will be interesting to see if the bird returns
to use it this year.

These tiny little mushrooms were growing on a dead tree trunk.
They were not longer than a 1/2".

Discovered this fresh deer scat on the Upland Trail.
At first I thought it was an odd pinecone.

This looks like turkey tails but then it continued to grow along

the tree trunk without the tails.  I do not know enough about mushrooms
to understand what it is.

Prairie looking east.  Along the path are the dried remains of the
Prairie dock.  In Summer the prairie is alive with Wild Bergamot,
Blazing Star, Big Blue Stem and numerous other grasses and
native wildflowers.

Prairie looking west

White Oak Property

Odd depressions in the snow.  Dirt blown in from the field to the west of the woods.

Deer tracks in the snow

Tiny little mushroom all by itself in the leaf litter
